Another national restaurant brand may be shrinking its footprint in California.

According to recent reporting, a well-known seafood chain is facing financial challenges that could lead to additional closures across the state. While no Northridge location has been confirmed, the closest impacted restaurant is in Canoga Park — one of our neighboring Valley communities.

The seafood chain has been navigating bankruptcy proceedings and restructuring efforts. As part of that process, underperforming locations could be closed in the coming months.

Several California restaurants have already shut their doors, with more under review — including the location in nearby Canoga Park.

Even when closures don’t hit directly inside Northridge, they affect the broader Valley dining landscape.

CSUN Baseball picked up a strong 12–7 victory at Saint Mary’s on Friday, fueled by a momentum-shifting grand slam from Jared Panganiban that broke the game open and gave the Matadors control.

With the bases loaded and tension rising, Panganiban launched a grand slam that flipped the energy and created separation on the scoreboard.

It was the kind of swing that changes a game — and a series.

The Matadors’ bats stayed active throughout the game, adding insurance runs and keeping pressure on Saint Mary’s pitching.
