🚓 DUI Checkpoints Planned Across the Valley This Weekend

Drivers in Northridge and across the San Fernando Valley should expect increased DUI enforcement this weekend as police conduct checkpoints and saturation patrols aimed at reducing impaired driving.

Authorities say the effort is part of a statewide campaign to prevent alcohol- and drug-related crashes and keep local roads safer. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead by using a designated driver, rideshare, or taxi if they plan to drink.

🚨 Update: Married Couple Found Dead in Porter Ranch Home; Police Investigating Possible Murder-Suicide

Police are investigating a tragic incident in Porter Ranch after a married couple was found dead inside their home Monday night.

Here’s what authorities say so far:

Location: Home near Como Lane and Modena Lane in Porter Ranch
Time of response: LAPD Devonshire Division responded around 9:20 p.m.
Who discovered them: The couple’s son reportedly found both parents inside the home with gunshot wounds and called police
Victims: A 55-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man
At the scene: Both victims were pronounced dead at the residence
Evidence: Investigators recovered a firearm inside the home
Investigation: Police say the case is being investigated as a possible murder-suicide
Public safety: No suspects are currently being sought

Authorities have not released the victims’ names or a confirmed motive as the investigation continues.

🇺🇸 The Wall That Heals Vietnam Veterans Memorial Coming to Pierce College

A traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be coming to Los Angeles Pierce College in Woodland Hills this month, giving Valley residents a chance to honor the more than 58,000 U.S. service members who died in the Vietnam War.

The memorial, known as “The Wall That Heals,” brings a scaled version of the famous Washington, D.C. wall to communities across the country so veterans, families, and the public can pay their respects.

📅 Opening Ceremony: March 19, 2026
🎟️ Admission: Free and open to the public
🕊️ Purpose: Honor Vietnam veterans and remember those who lost their lives

The event will include ceremonies and exhibits designed to educate visitors and provide a meaningful space for remembrance.

🏀 CSUN Basketball Earns Major Big West Honors

It’s a big week for CSUN Men’s Basketball, with two Matadors taking home major honors from the Big West Conference.

Josiah Davis was named Big West Player of the Year, becoming just the second player in program history to earn the conference’s top individual award. The senior guard from Ontario, Canada averaged 15.7 points per game this season and ranked third in the nation in assists with 236.

💪 Mahmoud Fofana also earned recognition, receiving the Big West Best Hustle Player Award. The senior forward from San Jose was honored for his relentless effort and impact on both ends of the floor.

Both players were key contributors to the Matadors this season, helping elevate the program and bringing national attention to CSUN basketball.

🏀 With these honors, the Matadors continue to build momentum and showcase the talent coming out of Cal State Northridge.

📚 Northridge Now: Kingdom of Stories Festival Coming to the Valley

Families across the Valley are invited to step into a world of imagination this weekend at the Kingdom of Stories Festival at the The Museum of the San Fernando Valley.

The festival takes place Saturday, March 14 from 11 AM – 4 PM at the museum located at 18904 Nordhoff St. in Northridge. The family-friendly event is designed for kids and young readers and celebrates storytelling, creativity, and books.

🎻 Grammy-Winning Villalobos Brothers Bringing Latin Energy to CSUN’s Soraya

Music fans in the Valley have something special to look forward to as the internationally acclaimed Villalobos Brothers bring their vibrant blend of Mexican folk, jazz, and classical music to The Soraya in Northridge.

The trio — brothers Ernesto, Alberto, and Luis Villalobos — are known for their electrifying performances that fuse traditional Mexican music with modern influences. Their sound blends virtuoso violin playing, rich harmonies, and storytelling rooted in Mexican culture and history.
